Next Stop: Spain
Entering the Med, the first port of call is Malaga. Although it boasts the beautiful beaches of the Costa del Sol, this captivating resort is also rich in art, culture and history with attractions including the Picasso Museum, Alcazaba Fortress and Castillo de Gibralfaro.
At the next stop, find an equally alluring blend of beach chic and old town charm in Palma, Majorca. This cosmopolitan capital is edged by majestic mountains and crystal clear waters with plenty of restaurants and bars as well as historic landmarks such as the 13th century Santa Maria Cathedral and the 14th century Bellver Castle.
Another highlight is a day in Barcelona, the vibrant cultural hub with walls that date back 2000 years and stone corridors and temple columns from the days of the Romans. Wander the shady plazas and lanes of the Gothic Quarter and the Old Town, sampling mouth-watering morsels from the markets or pausing for a rest in one of the city’s stunning parks.
Into The Med - And On To France & Monte Carlo
Your first call will be Toulon, a naval base between Marseille and Nice. Stroll the promenade, hit the beach or head for the historical quarter and discover striking buildings such as the Cathedral Sainte-Marie de la Seds; a great place for biking, climbing or watersports.
The next day, arrive in Monaco's glamorous Monte Carlo, the second smallest independent state in the world. Sip champagne in the Grand Hotel de Paris, wander the passageways of the old quarter or peruse the chic boutiques for fancy fashions.
Returning to Spain, visit the ancient Roman town of Cartagena to see the old town which reaches down to the waterfront, lined with beachfront cafes.
Pass Portugal? You Can't Miss Porto!
The last port of call is Leixoes in Portugal, which is the gateway to Oporto, an atmospheric fusion of old and new buildings set on the banks of the Douro River. Discover the city’s famous port wine and gothic buildings such as the Sao Francisco Church.
For the two-day journey back to Dover, relax aboard Boudicca before arriving on May 22 for transfers to London for the flight home.
