Switzerland: A View From The Top!

According to the Economist's "Quality of Life" index (which takes a number of factors into consideration) Switzerland is the best place in the world to be born. It also produces the world's best chocolate and - thanks to its mountainous peaks - has some of the world's best scenery as well. All of which is wasted if you have to keep your eyes on the road!

Fortunately the Swiss have the answer; an extensive rail network that takes you across, over - and even under - some of the continent's most scenic passes. Many of which our dedicated rail partner’s staff have experienced for themselves. Take a look below at some of their MD's pics from his recent family holiday.

The Bernina Express Bus takes visitors onwards from Tirano, through the vineyards of Veltlin and along the banks of Lake Como to Lugano (in both directions).

The Glacier Express

Enjoy breathtaking views as you weave your way through the mountains! The Glacier Express is the most scenic rail trip in Europe. A 7.5 hour rail journey across 291 bridges, through 91 tunnels and across the Oberalp Pass at 2033 meter above sea level. This journey is a must for all rail lovers.

The GoldenPass Line

The GoldenPass Line is one of the most picturesque in Switzerland. It links the Vaud Riviera to Lake Lucerne, the historic heart of Switzerland. It begins with a Mediterranean ambiance under the palm trees on the Riviera, after passing through a tunnel the alpine forests appear as she travels down the valley along the length of the wild river.
